Tongariro River Flow : 28.3 m3/sec

Weather: Hot but Overcast⛅

The Tongariro has been fishing well lately, with many rainbows getting into anglers' nets. Most success has come from nymphing, with small naturals such as hare and copper sz:16-14 and Pheasant tail nymph variations sz:16-14 being good patterns. Small egg imitations have also picked up the odd fish and can be worth a try if all else fails
There has been a consistent evening rise, with fish primarily targeting spent mayflies in sizes 12-14. Targeting these rising fish on a dry requires either an accurate cast or a small bit of luck. Another method to catch the fish rising in the evening would be swinging wet flies and streamers on floating, midge tip, and intermediate lines.

We have also had a great top up of loon so check them out online or come instore and have a look! Check them out here
