Tongariro River Flow: 54.2m3/sec

Weather: Partly Sunny

The big lake seems to be the go-to at present, going by what other anglers are reporting. Whiskery Mike has just left the shop and provided a report about jigging. he recommends green orbit, ginger mick and grey ghost patterns as they are working consistently, and the 130-200ft range for depth.

Neil got out for some lake fly fishing and had a challenging but rewarding day hooking into some well-conditioned fish, the prime example being in the featured image which is a fat silver fish with a tiny head 🤣 from the yarn we had this morning it sounds like one gave him a tune up as he went into backing before the tippet broke.

The Tongariro river flow continues to hold volume due to maintenance on the Poutu canal, all techniques will work but thought needs to be given when selecting a spot to fish. We are still hearing about the challenges anglers are encountering but there is still a smile and a laugh, meaning it's a better day to be out there than being in the office.
