Late yesterday afternoon the winds hit Turangi and hit big time, it blew a gale overnight and continued throughout the day and as we hit 6pm it's still blowing hard.
The silver lining to the wind is the fishing continues to see solid rainbows being pulled on the Tongariro with wetlining providing the bigger sales through the shop as anglers top up on Woolly Buggers and sinking lines with management of line and fly proving easier in the heavy winds.

If you found a spot out of the wind the folk running short close drifts in the Euro Rods also pulled some stunning fish with AB and Cory picking up a good number of fat and fit rainbows on the Tongariro with AB's A.lways B.orderline jig nymphs.

The winds have also brought the cold and layering up has been a must to staying out and about in the elements and we have plenty of warm gear in store.
Friday kicks of the Matariki long weekend and we will be open all weekend so pop in and say g'day and get yourself geared up and amongst the stunning fishing we have going on right now in the Central Plateau.
