Tongariro River Flow: 93.6m3/sec
Weather: Mostly Cloudy
Driving over the main road bridge this morning I couldn't resist a peak at the Tongariro as I had a feeling the river would have a nice colour to it and indeed it does! It's looking super fishy with its grey tinge which is perfect for a spot of spey or any form of wetlining. We have a great selection of wooly buggers instore, so come on in and collect a few prior to hitting the river. Those who want to nymph have every chance to find fish out there, just focus on the margins around boulders etc with something the fish can see in the murk (large-dark nymphs with rubber legs/hot-beaded nymphs/globugs).
Jesse Dowd is in town for some wet-weather wet-lining action and caught some goodies out there which is great to see. He reported good fishing on the smaller streams, but is looking at fishing the Tongariro today as it is looking ideal!
The Guideline Laxa 2.0 is a popular choice for those who want a lightweight weatherproof jacket. We have some available instore and online.
Neil and I are instore today, so come on in for more reports and friendly banter 😉
