Neil and AB took the Pontoon boats out from Tokaanu Wharf for the day on another post Christmas scorcher with the sun blazing down there is a whole new buzz about town for both locals and visitors to Turangi and the Central Plateau.
The shop was pumping again with smelt flies rolling out the door for jig sets to be made up at home and the in store pre made jig sets along with the Pat Swift sets the hottest items in house at the moment.
It was so good to see everyone out and about and able to enjoy how special this place is with boats rolling out form the wharf throughout the day and reports of some fat rainbows making there way home to the table after a day out jigging.
Neil and AB as they do got amongst it with the fly rod looking for smelting fish in and around the boat ramp, wharf and shallows and found them, however AB pulled more fish on a snail pattern then on the smelt during an interlude of dry and dropper when the smelting action took a hiatus.
It looks like another stunner tomorrow so make sure you pop in and see the team and get yourself geared up.
