Tongariro Flow: 41.3m3/sec

Weather: Cloudy/Rain

It remains very warm and humid here in Turangi and the Tongariro river flow continues to drop yet hold that murkiness which makes for an epic day on the river. Jesse took advantage of it and had a ball using the Category 3 Woomfah  sight fishing the side channels, in his denim shorts 😅

Shop Dad has been out with the headlamp swinging dark streamers to the willing brown

It sure is an interesting time on the Plateau as the weather influences all things fishing related, I have noticed that the juvenile fish are few and far between in the rivers/streams which is a contrast to previous summers where they're seemingly in every part of the river and zooming in to take the fly before that sighted brown does 😐

Yesterday I checked out the lake edges and rips to find that there's an abundance of juveniles hammering Grey Ghosts and Doll fly patterns, they're almost as a wide as they long! Well, perhaps that's an exaggeration but you get what I am saying here. They're fat!

There were a few skinny rainbows and browns amongst them, perhaps washed down to the lake so they should pick up in condition as well.

Our friend Sam has been having a ball this summer targeting the browns coming up the Tongariro at present, and dry dropper continues to be most productive method for him.

Good stuff mate!
