We have had a stunning start to the week here again in Turangi! it has been hot, sunny and only a light easterly wafting across the central plateau the last few days. The river has continued to produce very well, with fish beginning to feed actively as they recover from a winter of spawning as well as the odd fresh fish showing up as a nice surprise for anglers as we head into summer. The Tongariro is on its way down from the elevated flows we had over the weekend and is currently holding at 29.6m3/sec with a beautiful green colour ideal for both nymphing and wet lining.

The lake edge fishing has been keeping the crew occupied for the last few weeks now and with the weather really starting to heat up it has led to some awesome sessions as fish heard smelt up against the sand banks and weed edges. Warning this fishing is highly addictive and if done in good company can lead to uncontrollable laughing fits.

As I learnt yesterday it is extremely important to wear appropriate sun protection now that the summer is swiftly approaching! My usually pasty arms and neck currently have a crimson glow which has been the main talking point around the shop today. Luckily, we have just received stock of the Patagonia Tropic Comfort Natural Sun Hoodies! These are a lightweight hoody made from natural materials it is the perfect clothing item to keep you cool and protected from the harsh UV rays, perhaps I should get one for myself 😅.
