Weather: 17° Mostly cloudy with occasional drizzle. Fine spells developing this morning as drizzle clears, leaving the odd shower. Northeasterlies easing in the evening.

Rosie sent me a nice little blurb from what she has been seeing.
"Evening rises are beginning to become more regular on the warm days. Still only happening mostly on dusk for around half an hour, but mayfly hatches have been seen through the evening and fish taking both emergers and adults from the surface.

As fish recover, we are finding them more frequently in the shallower yet faster oxygenated water, at the edges of faster runs. The occasional fresh hen still running to spawn are being caught among the recoveries and a few fresh browns have been seen here and there along the river edges.

Smelting is beginning to pick up for those wanting to target the lake edges and stream mouths. Big numbers of smelt cruising the shores of the big lake have been seen over the past week which is a good sign for the coming summer smelting season! We have plenty of smelt patterns in store to stock up on.

Looking ahead -
It’s been a bit of a mixed bag weather-wise this week. Temps have stayed on the warmer side, but in classic spring style we’ve been flicking between sunshine and passing showers pretty much every day.
With Christmas now only four weeks away, we’ve been flat-out restocking and getting everything sorted before our suppliers close up for the break. We’ve also got more lake gear on the way, ready for anyone planning a few holiday missions on the water.
On the lake-fishing front, jigging just keeps getting better. More anglers are reporting solid numbers of fish, and the odd brown is still turning up to keep things interesting. If you’re into jigging, it’s well worth heading out, and it’s also a good time to start mixing up techniques as conditions continue to improve.
Looking ahead to the weekend and early next week, we’re expecting more of that same pattern: on-and-off rain with warm highs sitting in the 20s. The spring rain has actually been doing us a favour by topping up the systems and giving those late runners plenty of water to move through, a real bonus considering how warm it’s been.
If you’re getting out for a fish, we’ve got a solid range of lake gear, dry-fly setups, and everything else you might need. Swing in and we’ll get you sorted.
Tight lines everyone!
