Weather: Overcast and chilly with occasional rain

Tongariro River Flow: A low and clear 26.6m3/sec

The next couple days are set to have some beautiful late autumn weather and it's a great time to get out on the water with plenty of fresh, chrome fish around waiting to be caught. The rivers are still fairly low and clear but with temperatures continuing to drop more fish are turning up day after day. With chilly mornings and brightly coloured trees lining the riverbank it's starting to feel more and more like winter :)

The team at Sporting Life have been getting out as much as they can, and we have all been noticing a considerable increase in the amount of fish present in the river. Fish are starting to fill up through the whole river from the lower sections up to the middle and higher sections as well. Heavy tungsten beaded bombs followed by a smaller natural #12 or #14 on the point fly seem to still be providing the goods. However, globugs are starting to catch more and more, especially in rivers like the Hinemaiaia.

Stream mouth fishing has been picking up too with anglers who can time it right with a run of fish being very successful at times. If you are on the lookout for fish for the smoker now is a great time to get out there as there are plenty of great condition fish around!
