After a couple days of fairly steady rain today has started with beautiful clear sky and not a breath of wind in sight. the rain pushed the Tongariro up a bit peaking around 70m3/sec. Today it has dropped to the fishable flow of 40.9m3/sec which is ideal for both wet lining and nymphing. As expected, the elevated flow certainly pushed another wave of fresh fish into the river leaving the majority of anglers with a large grin on their face.

Spey fishing has been very productive over the last couple days with anglers intercepting moving fish in the high flow. Our friend Alan braved the elements and pulled a couple lovely fish out yesterday while the rain poured down. Alan utilized a Tassie Devil Plastic bead which he slid on his leader in front of his woolly bugger....... A favourite trick of mine. Well Done, Alan!

Tim and I are instore today and Tim is cooking up a sweat tying more of his deadly woolly bugger patterns which seem to sell out within hours, and rightly so. Those things are deadly!

It looks as though we are expecting mostly fine weather leading up to the long weekend with a few rain showers here and there. We will keep an eye on the weather and river level and let you know what's happening as the weekend gets closer.
