Tongariro River Flow: 25.8m3/sec

Weather: Chilly start to the day, clear sky, low winds. Overnight temperatures continue to drop closer to zero.

With temperatures dropping more and more fish are continuing to congregate at the stream mouths in preparation to run. More fish will continue to run into the rivers over the coming nights as a result of these colder temperatures as well. Theresea was recently out guiding on the Tongariro and got into some fresh chromies!

In Sporting Life news, we now are offering independent trout fishing guiding though our website! Theresea, Josh & Cory Scott are experienced, friendly guides for your choice of either Half Day, Full Day or Multi Day guided fly fishing adventures here on the Central Plateau. To learn more about our guides, their services and our winter rates visit the Sporting Life website or email: sport.life.guides@gmail.com

Our Hanak Competition beads & hooks have just been restocked! The Jig Superb Trophy hooks are in as well as the Competition Tungsten Beads in most colours. Beaded nymphs on jig hooks are a very effective way of fishing. If you're contemplating the move to barbless flies, then these hooks are a go to.
