Wow! Where is this month disappearing to? A cloudy start to the day here in Turangi today.  This may burn off later in the day to produce sunshine.  No wind as of 9:00am. The Tongariro is clear and fishable.

The odd few anglers calling into the shop picking up small dries as they have caught some fish rising to them.  Most likely it is the Passion Vine Hopper.  There still seems to be zillions of these around.

(Above) The day has turned out nice and sunny here in Turangi today. This was at about 1:00pm looking upstream to the tail of the Major Jones pool from the Island Pool carpark.

(Below) One angler fishing the Island Pool riffle. It looked like he was using a single hand Skagit line.  A few more anglers were downstream from here.

The mornings have cooled right off now but the days are still warm, especially when the sun comes out.  A nice time of the year to fish. Not much angling pressure on the river at the moment as it is a case of 10% of anglers are catching 90% of the fish.  Some nice fresh rainbows reported in the Tongariro over the last week.
