Some light drizzle has begun to dampen the air and the humidity is rising this afternoon and with more on the way tonight it will make the roads greasy so please take care if travelling here for the weekend.

The fishing has been fairly steady but some are finding it a tad difficult. Keep changing your rigs and flys to suit the water you are fishing and it shouldn’t be to hard to scratch up a wriggle in the end of your rod. No word today of rising fish so running a weighted nymph rig to fish the deeper runs and showing them small naturals should get it done. An egg pattern early in the day could well be worth a run. There has been some Brown Trout taking swung streamers of an evening and an early start on Saturday morning before the rec release hits town will definitely be an option. We’ve heard the odd whisper from the night owls that some well conditioned Rainbows have taken active.

A boat angler dropped in this afternoon and reported three cracking Rainbows taken on the troll on the eastern shore, they had to be out there somewhere. He also lost a boat net over the side unfortunately so if anyone happens to snag it I know who it belongs to.

On the subject of lost gear we have a rod that has been left behind at the TT car park on Thursday evening, if you happen to have found this contact us at the shop on 07 3868996 or email sport.life@xtra.co.nz

The recreational release is still scheduled for this Saturday……details in the photo below.
